To round out our North of England guides, we’re looking at the powerhouse of Northern travel: the North West.
Whether you’re a Scouser, a Mancunian, or a West Yorkshire local, Tenerife is essentially your “local” sunspot. With Manchester (MAN), Liverpool (LPL), and Leeds/Bradford (LBA) all offering daily direct routes, you have more choice here than anywhere else in the UK.
For those in the North West and Yorkshire, Tenerife is the ultimate “easy-reach” destination. You don’t need to worry about connections or long drives; you have three world-class airports right on your doorstep.
In 2026, the competition between airlines in this region is fiercer than ever. Jet2holidays remains the heavyweight champion at Manchester and Leeds/Bradford, while easyJet has massively expanded its presence in Liverpool. This means one thing for you: lower prices and better flight times.
The “Spoilt for Choice” Families: Those who live in the M62 corridor can play the three airports against each other. If a flight from Manchester is too pricey, they can often save £200 by hopping over to Liverpool or Leeds/Bradford.
The “LBA” Locals: Travellers from West Yorkshire who love the smaller, efficient feel of Leeds/Bradford but still want the massive choice of Jet2’s flagship base.
The Weekend-Warrior Couples: With flights leaving every morning, it’s incredibly easy to book a “long weekend” all-inclusive blast of vitamin D from Thursday to Sunday.
Unbeatable Frequency: Manchester alone often has up to four or five flights to Tenerife per day. You can choose to fly at 6 AM to be in the pool by lunchtime, or take an afternoon flight if you prefer a lie-in.
The “Jet2” Hub Advantage: Both Manchester and Leeds/Bradford are huge bases for Jet2holidays. This means you get the best “package” perks—22kg bags and transfers are bundled in by default, making your “All-Inclusive” truly all-inclusive.
Low-Cost Liverpool: Liverpool John Lennon Airport has become the “go-to” for budget-savvy travellers. With easyJet and Ryanair dominating the terminal, it’s often the cheapest place in the North West to grab a last-minute all-inclusive deal.
Top Tip: If you’re flying from Leeds/Bradford (LBA), remember it’s “the airport on a hill.” It can be a bit breezier than Manchester or Liverpool, but the upside is that it’s one of the fastest airports to get through security. You can often go from the car park to a “departure lounge pint” in under 20 minutes!
The “Airport Hop”: Always check all three airports on a comparison site. For 2026, we’re seeing Liverpool consistently offering the lowest prices for 3-star value, while Manchester offers the best 5-star luxury deals due to the sheer volume of high-end flight operators.
Avoid the “Football Flight”: If Liverpool or Manchester are playing a major European match at home, airport traffic and parking can be a nightmare. Check the fixture list before you book your airport parking!
Free Child Places: Because these three airports are so close together, airlines are fighting for your loyalty. Look for “Free Child Place” banners on TUI and Jet2—they are more plentiful in this region than anywhere else in the UK.
Manchester (MAN): The giant. Serves everyone from Cheshire to Cumbria. Flights with Jet2, TUI, easyJet, Ryanair, and even Aer Lingus.
Liverpool (LPL): The “easy” option. Dominated by easyJet and Ryanair. Great for those who want a faster, smaller airport experience.
Leeds/Bradford (LBA): The Yorkshire favourite. Primarily a Jet2 and Ryanair hub, offering that famous Yorkshire hospitality from the moment you check in.
To Beat the Grey: January and February. While the North West is famous for its rain, Tenerife is a balmy 21 degrees. It’s the ultimate “seasonal affective disorder” cure.
For a Summer Steal: The first two weeks of July. This is just before the schools break up, and you can find some of the lowest 5-star all-inclusive prices of the year.
