Los Cristianos All-Inclusive: The Sunny South with a Local Soul If you want the guaranteed sunshine of the south coast but prefer a town that feels a bit more “real” than the purpose-built neon of Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos is your winner. It’s got a busy harbour, a church square where the locals actually sit and chat, and some of the best golden beaches on the island.
Los Cristianos has a loyal following that returns year after year: The “Slow and Steady” Crowd: It’s hugely popular with retirees and older couples who enjoy the flat promenade and the more laid-back pace of life compared to the party resorts next door.
Young Families: Because the main beaches are sheltered by the harbour, the water is incredibly calm. It’s perfect for toddlers who just want to splash about safely.
Nature Lovers: Since the harbour is the main departure point for ferries and boat trips, people who want to spend their time on the water often make this their base.
Beachfront Convenience: Many all-inclusive hotels, like the Sol Arona, are just a few minutes’ walk from the sand. You can nip back for lunch without losing your prime spot on the beach.
Great for “Fussy” Eaters: Los Cristianos has a lot of British influence. If you (or the kids) aren’t ready for a week of tapas, the all-inclusive buffets here are famous for doing a great “Home from Home” spread.
Peace of Mind: While there are loads of great restaurants in town, the harbour area can get busy and a bit “touristy.” Having your meals sorted means you can enjoy the town’s atmosphere without the stress of finding a table at 7 PM.
Top Tip: Don’t miss the Los Cristianos Market on Sundays and Tuesdays. It’s one of the biggest on the island. Even if you’re on an all-inclusive budget, it’s the best place to grab some local honey, leather goods, or just soak up the atmosphere. Just get there early (before 10 AM) to beat the heat and the crowds!
Look for “Adults Only” if you want quiet: If you aren’t travelling with kids, the Arona Gran Hotel is a legendary all-inclusive choice. It’s right on the sea and very peaceful.
The “Airport Shortcut”: Los Cristianos is the closest major resort to Tenerife South (TFS). Don’t pay for a long private transfer; a local taxi is roughly €25-€30 and takes less than 20 minutes.
Check the “Hill” factor: Some “Los Cristianos” hotels are actually up in the Chayofa hills. They offer great views, but you’ll be relying on the hotel shuttle bus. If you want to walk to the beach, check the map before you book!
Whale & Dolphin Watching: Since the boats leave from the harbour here, you can literally walk from your hotel to the pier. Look for the “Blue Boat” flag for the most ethical tours.
Playa de las Vistas: This is the “big” beach. It’s man-made, huge, and has a great fountain in the middle. The water is crystal clear and shallow.
Ferry to La Gomera: Fancy seeing another island? You can hop on a Fred Olsen ferry and be in San Sebastian (La Gomera) in under an hour for a day trip.
For the atmosphere: February is amazing because of the Carnaval celebrations. It’s a bit busier, but the town comes alive with colour.
For the weather: September is the “locals’ favourite.” The summer crowds have thinned, the wind has dropped, and the sea is as warm as a bathtub.
