The “Glossy” Side of Tenerife If Playa de las Américas is the rowdy younger brother, Costa Adeje is the sophisticated older sister who knows exactly where to find the best cocktail. It’s the “upmarket” end of the south coast, where the promenades are a bit wider, the hotels are a bit flashier, and the sand on the beaches (Playa del Duque, we’re looking at you) is a beautiful golden hue. If you’re after an all-inclusive holiday that feels more “luxury retreat” than “budget buffet,” this is your spot.
You’ll find a slightly different crowd here than in the neighbouring resorts:
Luxury-Seeking Families: Think parents who want a kids’ club that actually teaches the little ones something, paired with a spa for themselves. Resorts like the Iberostar Anthelia or GF Victoria are magnets for this crowd.
Honeymooners & Romantic Pairs: There’s a high concentration of 5-star, adults-only sanctuaries here (like the Royal Hideaway Corales Suites). It’s perfect if you want to clink glasses without a splash from a nearby cannonball.
Golf Enthusiasts: With Golf Costa Adeje just around the corner, many people go all-inclusive so they can spend their mornings on the green and their afternoons refuelling at the hotel bar.
Costa Adeje is one of the more expensive parts of Tenerife. Going all-inclusive here isn’t just about convenience; it’s a smart financial move.
High-End Dining: Many all-inclusives here offer à la carte “themed” restaurants (Italian, Japanese, Canarian) that would cost a fortune if you were paying per meal on the front.
Top-Shelf Drinks: Unlike budget resorts, the 4 and 5-star hotels in Adeje often include decent international brands in their all-inclusive packages. No “mystery gin” here!
Proximity to Everything: Most resorts are built right on the front. You get the luxury of the all-inclusive bubble, but you’re only a two-minute walk from a sunset stroll along the coast.
Top Tip: If you fancy a change of scenery from the hotel buffet, take a 15-minute walk (or a 5-minute taxi) to the nearby village of La Caleta. It’s famous for its fresh seafood restaurants. Even if you’ve already paid for dinner, watching the sunset there with a cold glass of local white wine is worth the few extra Euros.
Adeje doesn’t often do “dirt cheap,” but you can definitely find value: Filter by Star Rating: Stick to 4 or 5 stars in this area to ensure you’re getting the “Adeje experience.”
The “Half-Term” Trap: Because it’s so family-friendly, prices skyrocket in October and May half-terms. If you aren’t tied to school dates, booking just one week either side can save you hundreds.
Check the Airport Transfer: Most Jet2 or TUI packages include the transfer, but if you’re booking “flight plus hotel” separately, remember Adeje is only 15 minutes from Tenerife South (TFS). A taxi should only be about €30, so don’t overpay for a private shuttle!
Even if your hotel pool is incredible, you’ve got to see these:
Siam Park: It’s practically on your doorstep. If you’re staying in Costa Adeje, you can often hop on the free shuttle bus that runs throughout the resort.
Playa del Duque: Often called the best beach in Tenerife. It’s got that chic, Mediterranean vibe with high-end boutiques nearby if you fancy some window shopping.
Whale Watching from Puerto Colón: The marina is right in the heart of Costa Adeje. It’s the main hub for ethical boat tours where you can see pilot whales and dolphins.
The Sweet Spot: May to June or September to October. The weather is perfect (mid-20s), the sea is warm enough for a dip, and the resort feels a bit more exclusive and less crowded.
Winter Sun: Even in January, you’ll see people sunbathing. It’s the ultimate “fly away from the rain” destination.
It’s a very easy 4.5-hour flight from almost every UK airport. You’ll land at Tenerife South (TFS). From there, it’s a straight shot up the TF-1 motorway. You’ll be checking in and having your first “included” drink within 45 minutes of leaving the airport.
